coco coir & perlite

To prepare the soilless substrate for our hydroponic systems we mixed coco coir and perlite. The perlite is great for water retention and drainage. Coco coir is also a substrate with a high water holding capacity which is important for the plants in the system. We used a 1:1 ratio of coco coir and perlite. For every one pot full of perlite we added in equal part coco coir. We then mixed the substrates and filled each pot need for the hydroponic towers.
