Early weeding

Beginning to hand pick a few weeds in the plot before many set seed. It is important to begin weeding early on in the planting season prior to the weeds setting seed. If the weeds have already set seed, more work will be required to control and suppress the weeds throughout the season. There are many things that can be done to suppress the weeds early on in the planting season. For instance, laying hay throughout your plot as a ground cover, this is effective because it blocks sunlight from the various weeds. We will try various tactics to suppress weeds in our farm such as black plastic mulch, hay, and potentially living mulch.
